Or: I got invited to check out Pretty People and all I got was A WHOLE BAGFUL OF STUFF.
Dear readers, I’m sure you’re aware that I rarely leave with a bagful of stuff. I usually keep it together.
I did not keep it together this time. The thing is, though, that my lack of restraint wasn’t a problem at this new store. It worked out just fine, because prices are also just fine.
By now it’s no secret that Annie Lee, formerly of Annie Creamcheese, cut ties with her ex-fiance and decided to open her own store. Pretty People is everything that Annie Creamcheese is not. It’s intimate. It’s kitschy. It’s quiet and fun to explore. And the prices are several dollar signs below what we’d expect for flawless vintage items. No seams hanging out. No big gaps overlooked when the price tag got slapped on. Everything is gorgeous.
It helps that Annie has been collecting vintage for years and really knows her stuff. Her modern selection is also modestly priced—little more than what you would spend on a cheapo knockoff from The Store That Will Not Be Named.
I don’t go to Alexandria often, but I’ve decided it’s worth making an effort for this shop. It’s not too far from Metro, and parking is pretty easily found on the side streets nearby.
More pictures, you ask? Sure!

The store is filled with images of animals, including my favorite: The wicker giraffe (far far right).
