It’s a vintage-lover’s dilemma: You love the carefully-curated selection at Treasury, but want more to paw through. You love grabbing good finds at Value Village, but have time to see only the best stuff.
The answer: It’s Vintage, Darling. This place is classy.
You’d walk right by It’s Vintage, Darling if you didn’t know where to look on the stretch of 14th Street just above DCUSA. But once you walk in the door, you wonder why you haven’t visited sooner (at least, I wondered). There’s plenty to take in, from men’s ties to women’s shoes and designer (DESIGNER I SAY) handbags both recent and near-antique. Each piece is unique, and in pristine condition.
While smaller, the men’s selection is worthy of a look. At the very least, there are plenty of fetching neckties at hand. If you’re a lucky dude, you’ll find a shirt, blazer, or shoes that fit the bill. And my, you’ll look sharp.
Don’t forget about brooches and other jewelry at the counter—also in pristine condition. I met one of the owners, Amira Hickim, and store manager Gigi during my visit. Both were hard at work pricing vintage to be put on the floor (a beautiful hardwood, by the way). Prices are amazingly moderate here. All the dresses I fell in love with were in the $40-50 range, with some really sweet styles on the seasonal 1/2 off rack.
Bring a friend and a little time to lose yourself in fashion history at this great new shop.
